The Military Postal History of the New Hebrides
During the Second World War

The Australian Forces

The Australian Forces were mainly occupied in New Guinea and New Britain during the Second World War. Nevertheless, Liaison Officers were based with the US forces, in order to facilitate the co-ordination of military activity. In the New Hebrides, the few Australian servicemen there did not have their own postal facilities and were compelled to use the US post offices, as did the crew of any Australian ships in port.
